Kaili Kinnon
Toronto, Canada
Soul, Jazz, Alternative
Making “smoky soul-pop” with her “rare and splendid voice” (L’Express), Kaili Kinnon is a singer and songwriter born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Her music has been described as a blend of Adele and Florence and the Machine with a hint of Anita Baker.
In 2018, Kaili embarked on the project “Twelve-Eighteen”— an original song arranged, self-produced and released for every month of the year. By June 2018, eight of the songs had been released. The final song of the project, “Tenderness”, was produced by Marcus Paquin (Arcade Fire, Stars, The National) and was released in April 2019, delayed in release by an injury in the fall of 2018. This project was funded by the Toronto Arts Council and private donors.
Kaili performs in Toronto and abroad in duo format with Alex Purcell (guitar) and with her full band (Alex Purcell, Milan Kozovski, Robert Purcell, Andrew Avitia-Bush). In 2018, Kaili performed a fifteen concert European tour. The tour took her to Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Estonia. In 2019, Kaili toured Estonia, performing at the Tallinn International Jazz Festival (known as Jazzkaar) in April.
In 2019, funded by a Toronto Arts Council composition grant, Kaili will compose a pop song-cycle exploring addiction and recovery as well as continue to develop songs for a debut album slated for release in 2020.
