Join us for a *free* all-ages block party at the base of Madison Avenue
Celebrate Estonian culture with live music, singing, dancing, crafts, food and drink.
Whether you have that one Estonian friend or you’ve never heard of the country and couldn’t place it on a map, this event is for you! Taking place on the last day of the Estonian Music Week festival (May 25) the Külasimman, which means Village Party in English, is the perfect introduction to this weird and wonderful Nordic-Baltic culture.
The Külasimman/Village Party is so named, not only because it will transport you to the countryside, but also because it celebrates the Estonian Village forming in the heart of Toronto, with so many community organizations moving to the area. The first block of Madison Avenue will be closed off next to Tartu College Student Residence. Activities include interactive musical performances, kids' programming, a handicrafts market, food vendors, a secret bar, DJ workshops and more!
The event also will be part of Doors Open, which celebrates the theme of “play” this year. Tartu College Event Space will open it's doors to the public. Inside we invite you to “press play” on Estonian Museum Canada's record collection (the largest in the Estonian diaspora) with a special exhibit and participate in activities including DJ workshops and a panel, all led by Erik Laar of Off Centre DJ School.
Live performances by Tiiu Strutt, Hypnosis Negative and many more!
The fifth edition of Estonian Music Week takes place from May 22-25 with 10 exciting concerts and events to choose from - or experience them all with a festival pass. See full festival schedule here.
